spring break 2013

Officially the worst spring break ever!  Originally we had planned to go camping with some friends at the end of the week.  A few weeks prior we realized that maybe that wasn't such a fun idea with a 4.5 hour drive and an already sleeping uncomfortably pregnant wife so we opted out.  We still figures we try to do some fun activities at home.  We have been pretty blessed to have relatively very healthy kids.  Neither one of them has ever thrown up and Noah is almost 6!  Well Sunday morning Ellie woke up clingy and whiny but had no fever or indication of illness.  About 30 seconds before we walked out the door for church she threw up.....a lot.  Zac so sweetly cleaned up and volunteered to stay home with her.  She then got a high fever for several days and diarrhea....good times.  That lasted from Sunday until Wednesday when she began to be herself. Well she simply passed the baton off to Noah who threw up Wednesday night and then continued the same cycle as Ellie....so that took up  our whole week. Just in time for Zac and I to get it over the weekend.  So sad.  Ellie would just lay around on the floor sadly.  Noah lounged the couch and said really pathetic things like "I just want to be normal." At least they could have timed it to be the same time right?! I had planned a few crafts to do with the kids over the break (thank you pinterest) and they burned through those pretty fast but seemed to enjoy them.  It would be 8:30 in the morning and they would be asking to do a project.  So glad they love this time being creative but it wears one out! Here is our week trapped indoors while the weather outside was beautiful!

we attempted to color eggs using food coloring and shaving cream not very successfully.

but did successfully have fun painting with the shaving cream in the tub.

They look pretty happy but I promise there were sad moments of miserablness.

I printed off some play dough mats...lasted about 30 seconds for Noah but Ellie seemed to enjoy them.

It is terrible to see your kids so miserable and sad...breaks your heart.  Although it was hard being home the whole week witnessing this sad event I actually loved the time with the kids and they seemed content just being home which is nice.  Love them.
