Grateful: a clean and organized pantry and linen closet....thank you 3 hour pre-school program.
Zac and I are pretty bummed because we bought a LOT of cereal (frosted mini wheats to be exact, 21 boxes if counting) at super cheap prices of course. All in effort to get 3 movie tickets to see Toy Story 3. We were going to take Noah to his first "real" movie experience (we went last year to a free movie day but his attention span couldn't handle it.) After talking with several people about their thoughts on the movie we decided not to go. Everyone loved it yet they all said there were some very sad/traumatic/intense parts to it. Noah is just starting to show some fears and inhibitions so we decided not to push it. That got us thinking about movies for kids. It used to be that in our heads a Disney movie was great for kids. Now that we have kids and reflect on those movies here's what you get...
Lion King-watch your dad die and then feel guilty thinking you did it
Little Mermaid-hello she is wearing nothing and is constantly disobeying her father.
Aladdin-again slim coverage on the wardrobe and all is good....oh until Jafar turns into a creepy scary serpent.
Mulan-like Noah needs the idea to cut his hair with scissors put into his mind!
Snow White- only if you want your kid to never eat apples again.
We kept trying to think of movies that were ok for our Noah. We came up with very very few we were comfortable with. Luckily he mostly watches shows (ok, so basically just curious george) which is fine by me because at least they seem a little educational as opposed to movies. However, we need some suggestions on fun family movies for those times we want to view together. Any thoughts? (oh and yes we ate all that cereal!)

Okay, so if you are going to avoid the Lion King, you might want to avoid telling Noah what happens to Jesus. This is two fold. One you don't want to ruin it for him when he reads it later. Two it's pretty much the same concept as Simba and Mufasa except in reverse. Also any story about loved ones visiting from beyond the grave: the Joseph Smith story might be too much to handle: a couple of beings from the great beyond giving instruction...much like Mufasa.
Here are some other stories you should avoid like the little mermaid: Alma the younger and the son's of Mosiah, Saul, and to a lesser extent, Oliver Cowdrey.
I have no other pithy remarks so I will stop there. :)
